Announcement - Confucian Analects Class, 2nd Sunday, Monthly 論語, 每月第二個週日
Dear OACA Members,
Up to today, Confucianism has influenced Chinese for more than 2,500 years. The “Analects of Confucius” is one of the most important philosophy classics of Confucianism. The Chinese school is proud to provide the opportunity for everyone to study it together. To accommodate non-Chinese-speaking audience, the class will use text book in both Chinese and English. The class is open to all.

Contents：
Confucianism has influenced China for more than 2,500 years, and The Analects is one of the most important classics of Confucianism. Many doubt that the culture and etiquette mentioned in the Analects still apply today. Is it still useful to study the Analects?
Looking at the modern society, the overemphasis of individual freedom has led to social disorder and to the loss of moral values. This loss, in many ways, contributes directly to wars and crimes and exacerbates natural disasters. These negative impacts and trends must be corrected if future generations are to be better off. Because "The Analects" provides us with the direction of life and methods in building a harmonious society, it is essential to study "The Analects".

儒家思想影響中國達兩千五百多年，而《論語》是儒家思想的重要經典之一，其中提及的文化、禮節，或者不再適用於現今的社會，所以我們還有必要研讀《論語》嗎？
放眼近代，因為過分強調個人自由，導致社會失序以及道德價值失落，進而間接促成與深化天災人禍，為人類帶來負面的影響。若是想要未來子孫過得好，就必須改善此一負面趨勢。因為《論語》提供我們做人處事與建構和諧社會的方向，因此研讀《論語》是必要的。
