A Wonderful Chinese New Year Celebration Party - the Year of Rooster
On Feb 4th, 2017, at Capital High School located in Olympia, WA, Olympia Area Chinese Association (OACA) held a Chinese New Year celebration party. With a total of 22 performances, 13 from Olympia Chinese School, 8 from the local Chinese community, and 1 from the students of the Evergreen State College, presented.
This event was opened to the public. About 400 members and people from local communities participated in this party. At the end, all of the young kids received a Red Envelope (HongBao紅包 or 利是) - the monetary gift which is given during holidays like Chinese New Year.
The director Mr. Minyong Chen (Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle) and the director Mr. Jun Zhou (Confucius Institute of the State of Washington) joined this party.

(Mr. Myint Lwin & Ms. Juliet Lwin - husband & wife both served as president (1988-1989 and 1997-1998). Another thing to be proud of is that Mr. Myint Lwin was promoted and moved to Washington, D.C. in 2003 to serve as the Director, Office of Bridge Technology, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), U.S. Department of Transportation.)

The traditional Chinese Lion Dance initiated the performances. This program was presented
by Olympia Kungfu & Taichi Club - the OACA's partner providing Kungfu/Taichi class.
