2025 AANHPI Heritage Month Celebration
On Saturday, May 24th, the Olympia Area Chinese Association (OACA) proudly took part in the 2025 Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month Celebration. Hosted by the Asian Pacific Islander Coalition of South Puget Sound, in partnership with the Evergreen State College and funded by the City of Olympia, the event was a vibrant tribute to the diverse cultures and rich traditions of AANHPI communities, featuring an array of cultural performances, food vendors, and engaging, family-friendly activities. OACA was honored to contribute to both the planning and the celebration itself.
As part of its efforts to share and promote Chinese culture, OACA hosted a booth featuring a range of interactive cultural displays. Activities included traditional Chinese paper cutting, a chopstick candy-picking game, and informational materials introducing the organization, the OACA Chinese School, and upcoming community initiatives supported by the Health Capacity Grant. These exhibits garnered significant interest from attendees across diverse backgrounds and age groups. Notably, Olympia Mayor Mr. Dontae Payne visited the booth and actively participated in the activities, further underscoring the event’s strong community engagement and the positive impact of OACA’s cultural outreach efforts.
Members of the local Chinese community also made meaningful contributions to the event. The local Chinese lion dance team brought their dynamic and well-coordinated performance to the audience. The Fangfei Dance and Music Troupe performed their beautiful dance, which added energy, elegance, and cultural richness to the celebration.

2025年5月24日星期六，奥林匹亚地区华人协会（OACA）荣幸地参与了2025年亚裔、夏威夷原住民和太平洋岛民（AANHPI）传统月庆典活动。此次活动由南普吉特湾亚太联盟主办，奥林匹亚市出资，长青州立大学协办。这是一场充满活力的庆典，向AANHPI群体多元的文化和丰富的传统致敬。活动内容包括各类文化表演、美食摊位以及家庭互动活动。OACA不仅参与了活动的筹备工作，还积极参与了庆典当日的相关活动。
为了传播和弘扬中华文化，OACA在活动中设立了一个展位，展示了丰富多样的互动文化项目。现场活动包括中国传统剪纸、筷子夹糖果游戏，以及介绍华人协会和中文学校和即将开展的各项活动的宣传材料。这些展出吸引了来自不同背景和年龄层观众的浓厚兴趣。值得一提的是，奥林匹亚市市长Dontae Payne亲临展位，并积极参与各项活动，进一步体现了本次活动的社区参与度和OACA文化推广工作的积极影响。
本地华人社区成员也为本次活动作出了很多贡献。本地华人舞狮队带来了充满活力、配合默契的精彩表演。芳菲舞蹈团表演的优美舞蹈更为庆典增添了活力、优雅和浓厚的文化氛围。
