Environmental Seminar on Landfill Remediation and Cleanup Processes

On September 20, 2025, the Olympia Area Chinese Association (OACA)successfully hosted an environmental seminar focused on “Former Landfill Remediation and Cleanup Processes in Washington State.” The event attracted dozens of community residents and participants from various sectors.

The seminar featured guest speaker Mr. Xianyu Meng, an environmental governance expert. With vivid visuals and clear explanations, Mr. Meng drew upon his many years of frontline experience to present both professional knowledge and practical case studies on landfill remediation. He also shared valuable insights from his work in environmental protection. The lecture combined academic depth with practical relevance and received high praise from the audience. During the interactive Q&A session, participants actively engaged with thoughtful questions and discussions, reflecting the community’s strong concern and sense of responsibility toward environmental issues.

In addition to the seminar, the association organized a potluck-style gathering, where attendees shared food and enjoyed table tennis and other recreational activities, further strengthening community bonds and friendships.

This seminar is part of a series of environmental education activities organized by OACA under the Healthy Environment for All (HEAL)grant. 2025年9月20日，奥林匹亚华人协会成功举办了一场以“前垃圾填埋场治理及华盛顿州清理工作流程”为主题的环保专题讲座。此次活动吸引了数十位社区居民及社会各界人士积极参加。

讲座特邀环境治理专家孟宪禹老师主讲。孟老师以图文并茂的方式，结合多年一线工作经验，深入浅出地阐述了垃圾填埋场治理的专业知识与实践案例，并分享了在环境保护领域的宝贵心得。讲座内容既有理论高度，又兼具实用性，获得了现场听众的高度评价。在互动问答环节，与会人员踊跃提问，积极交流，展现了社区成员对环境保护议题的关切与责任感。

除讲座外，协会还组织了 potluck 形式的餐叙活动，与会者共享美食，并开展了乒乓球及其他文体交流，进一步增进了社区凝聚力与友谊。

本次活动是奥林匹亚华人协会在 Healthy Environment for All (HEAL) grant 框架下举办的系列环保教育活动之一。协会未来将持续开展相关讲座与实践活动，进一步推动社区公众的环保意识，促进健康、可持续的生活环境建设。
